Privacy

With all the greatness new media brings, there are also some downfalls. New media has brought us many new social networks and virtual worlds, but in order to enjoy that, we are giving up our privacy and confidentiality. Someone is always reading and listening to you when you use new media. For example, when you google a piece of clothing only once, that same item will begin to show up on all your social networks through ads. The Facebook controversy is real. Along with Facebook, other big corporations such as, Google is selling our private information to other companies, so they know what to market to us. This is complete invasion of our privacy. Everything we have said or done online is recorded and collected by these large corporations. Even if we delete a post on our social media, there is always a way to trace it back. The saying is true, “never post something you don’t want to be seen on social media,” because even if you think it is deleted, large corporations will always have access to your personal files and information.
