Blog about Twitter
Twitter discussions, blackboard discussions, and in-class discussions are all a method of discussing certain topics amongst many people. Twitter discussions can be done with many people in a relaxed manner. Since it is public, anyone can comment and you can discuss with strangers about a certain topic through tweets. But because tweets only allow 280 characters, they are rather small discussions or a series of many tweets, which is sometimes hard to keep up with. Blackboard discussions are more professional and graded. Blackboard discussions require thoughtful writing and articles to backup the information. It’s more uptight and tedious because students feel the pressure of creating a good post for their professors. Also, students have to refrain from using colloquial terms, which Twitter gives the liberty to do so. Lastly, in-class discussions are physical discussions, which can get very interesting and heated. Students can say more about how they feel about the topic without feeling pressured. It is another form of a professional discussion, but it’s more comfortable to speak about the topic, rather than writing it. There is more to say when discussing it aloud.
I agree with your point. Sometimes, the blackboard discussion makes me feel stressful because I need to be very careful about the post. I need to ensure the post has a high quality. However, the Twitter discussion can give me some room to breath. I can have a little more freedom to express my thought on Twitter.
