I believe in order to use new media to improve Baruch College, we should incorporate more online classes. Along with the online classes, we should also have students use social networking for their coursework, much like CIS 3810. This allows the students to be more fluent in new media and technology. This can benefit students in the long run, where they can take the knowledge obtained from the online classes and use it in their future careers. Online classes also keep students more alert. This requires them to take initiative to make sure they are checking the deadlines and also meeting them. Often times in lectures, the professor reminds the students when an assignment is due, but through online classes, students have to make sure they are checking themselves. This teaches students leadership and responsibilities, which they can benefit from in the future. In addition, online classes will also keep the students from cramming a night before the exam. Since they have to take initiative for themselves and reach deadlines, students will do their work in their own pace and be able to retain more information. This then will make it easier for the students to study for the exams given. I believe this is an extra push into the new digital world.
